What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is an effective, safe and gentle system of alternative medicine used by millions of people world-wide.

It was developed in the late eighteenth century by a German physician, Samuel Hahneman. Drawing on his observations of a series of experiments he had done in 1796 on the effects of Quinine in the treatment of malaria, he elaborated and formalized a system of healing which he called homeopathy (from the Greek words meaning "similar suffering"). Based on the "Law of Similars" , first put forth by Hippocrates in the fourth century BC" and used in many healing systems around the world, the "Law of Similars" states that a substance that can produce symptoms in a healthy person, can cure a sick person suffering from similar symptoms. For example, an individual suffering from insomnia caused by excitement and mental activity might receive a homeopathic remedy made from a minute amount of coffee. This extremely diluted amount of coffee can act to gently stimulate the body's own healing response to restore the natural balance so that they can sleep.

This differs from conventional treatment in which the patient is given a drug to suppress the symptoms and the insomnia may actually get worse after sleeping pills use is discontinued.

How does it work?

Homeopathy treats the whole person not their illness. The initial homeopathic consultation, typically 1-2 hours in length, is a detailed patient interview. The purpose of this interview is to understand the essence of what the client is experiencing so that it can be matched to the correct homeopathic remedy. The homeopathic remedies are derived from a variety of substances including plants and minerals. Homeopathic treatment acts to stimulate an individual's own innate healing capacity, to restore and preserve health and wellbeing. It can be used in the treatment of both acute and chronic health problems. We invite you to try this profound, effective healing system.
