| What is Yoga? |

Originating in India more than 5,000 years ago*, yoga is a system of techniques for the purpose of tapping into the
eternal bliss that lies within. This mystical science includes practices for the body, moral instructions for living,
and mental disciplines such as meditation and the study of ancient texts. Over time, diverse philosophies of yoga have
emerged, each with their own approach to the inner experience. The intention of all methods of yoga is the same -
to quiet the mind and experience the limitless source of freedom, strength, and wisdom that is the birthright of every person.

Hatha Yoga - The Physical Discipline
|
|
A small slice of the vast teachings of yoga, hatha yoga includes the discipline
of bodily postures (asana) and breath control (pranayama). These practices clear
blockages from the body and mind so that the practitioner can uncover and abide in
his or her natural state of health, vitality and bliss. Today, there are many styles
of hatha yoga ranging from meditative and gentle to vigorous and athletic.
Each approach is designed to suit different kinds of students.
